$13,000 RAISED IN AUSSIE STINGERS CHARITY SWIM

The Aussie Stingers today completed a charity swim at Sutherland Aquatic Centre raising more than $13,000 for charities CanToo and MAD for Homelessness.

Off the back of a three month training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra as part of their intense preparation schedule for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the Aussie Stingers wanted to give back during this holiday period in support of two charities close to their heart. 

The squad took on the next gruelling challenge of swimming 100 x 100m (10 kilometres) for CanToo and MAD for Homelessness, smashing their fundraising target. 

Aussie Stingers Captain Rowie Webster, said she was thrilled with the support they have received in raising money. 

“We are pretty proud of each other for organising this event and getting everyone behind it and supporting us the whole way through.  They say team work makes dream work… to get in here and do the 100 by 100 alongside these girls is pretty special,” said Webster. 

“CanToo raises money for cancer and one of our team member’s father is battling cancer and we wanted to show our support for their family, who are very much part of our family.

“MAD for Homeless is another charity that people may not of heard of but who are doing vital work to help our homeless communities,” she said. 

Fellow Aussie Stingers squad member Bronte Halligan said the squad were extremely thankful to everyone who has supported this great initiative. 

“10km I don’t think any of us have swum that ever, so we’re really proud of ourselves.  Thank you to everyone that came out and supported and donated and made this event possible,” said Halligan.
