Water Polo Australia is pleased to announce dual Olympian and Aussie Sharks captain Aaron Younger‘s election to the Water Polo Australia (WPA) Athlete Commission.

The 26-year-old will serve the remainder of the term made vacant due to the appointment of Thomas Whalan as WPA President and his decision to step down from his position on WPA’s Athlete Commission.

Younger is currently embedded in the modern day game and understands how to best communicate and represent the views of current elite athletes and aspiring athletes to Water Polo Australia.

Athletes Commission Chair, Water Polo Australia Board Director and Olympic bronze medallist Jane Moran believes Younger will be able to provide support for the next generation of water polo athletes.

“The commission is excited to have the Aussie Sharks captain join the Athlete Commission.

“Younger’s insights from the elite ranks and the professional European Leagues will provide the commission with a unique player perspective, which will greatly assist in our endeavours to finalise player contracts and our ongoing focus on player welfare,” she said.

Younger is currently based in Hungary playing professionally for Szolnoki Vízilabda Sport Club.
