Various Australian players are competing in water polo leagues across the world and are gunning for glory. WPA looks at how our Aussie athletes are currently tracking in their overseas competitions.

AUSSIE SHARKS

HUNGARIAN MEN’S NATIONAL LEAGUE (MALE OB I)

In round 11 of the LEN Champions League, Aussie Sharks captain Aaron Younger and Hungarian side FTC-Telekom suffered a three goal loss to Spanish team CN Barceloneta leaving them ranked fourth in Group A with three rounds left to play.

CROATIAN MEN’S NATIONAL LEAGUE (PRVA LIGA)

Aussie Sharks player Nathan Power will be eager to return from national duties after a gold meal performance in Perth at the FINA World League Inter-Continental Cup and  help boost his side after a loss in their latest LEN Champions League match.

Also returning from national duties to Croatia is fellow Aussie Sharks teammate Tim Putt, who will also be itching to return to his Croatian teammates following their six goal defeat to VK Jug Dubrovnik.

SPANISH MEN’S NATIONAL LEAGUE (LIGA PREMAAT)

George Ford has been capping up for Quadis CN Mataro in Spain during the 2018/19 season and while he was recently in Perth for international competition he will return to a winning side after their latest result.

GREEK MEN’S NATIONAL LEAGUE (A1 ETHNIKI)

Anthony Hyrsanthos' Greek teammates at Vouliagmeni continue their winning ways and will be hoping to extend their streak in their next fixture.

ITALIAN MEN’S A1 CHAMPIONSHIPS

Italian powerhouse Pro Recco are sitting pretty atop of their LEN Champions League group, ten points clear of second place. Joe Kayes' teammates secured an impressive round 11 victory as part of the European competition.

ITALIAN MEN’S A2 CHAMPIONSHIPS

Aussie Nick Elphick played a crucial role in RN Sori's latest win, scoring a hat trick to edge out opposition team NC Civitavecchia, with RN Sori taking the points after holding out for a one goal victory.

SERBIAN MEN’S NATIONAL LEAGUE (A2 LIGA)

Damien Williams and Valjevo Gorenge will be looking ahead to their next fixture and looking to replicate their last result which was a positive 15-9 win.

AUSSIE STINGERS

ITALIAN WOMEN’S NATIONAL LEAGUE (CAMPIONATO SERIE A1)

Elle Armit will be back with her Italian side soon after representing Australia in Perth earning herself a silver FINA World League Inter-Continental Cup medal. She will be back in action on 19 April for a much anticipated clash.

Heading into round 16, Jessica Zimmerman's Rapallo Pallanuoto is sitting in third position only two points behind table leaders L'ekipe Orizzonte who are their next opponents.

GREEK WOMEN’S NATIONAL LEAGUE (A1)

While Hannah Buckling and Keesja Gofers have been away on national duties, Olympiacos have put on a dominant scoring display with 21 goals of their own in their latest result.

NEXT FIXTURE: 6 April - Ano Glyadas v Olympiacos

Ethnikos and Morgan Baxter suffered a heavy defeat in their fourth game as part of the third phase of the national Greek women's championship. In a positive for Baxter she managed to put herself on the scorer's list, but will be hoping for a better result this weekend.

AMERICAN COLLEGE (NCAA)

Australian trio of Madeleine Steere, Abby Andrews and Sofie Pontre have had an extended break from competitive play and will be excited to hit the water again this weekend as they play three games across two days.

UCLA Bruins and Aussie Stingers Bronte Halligan would be satisfied with their latest efforts against Pacific, taking a 10-7 victory in a game which Halligan contributed with one goal herself. Now the American College team will refocus ahead of an anticipated clash with Stanford.

Carla Traplin found herself on the road with the Cal Women's Water Polo, heading to Hawaii where they suffered a narrow defeat. Fifth placed Hawai'I scored two goals in the final three minutes to down the fourth placed Cal women's water polo team. Cal has four matches remaining in the regular season, all at home. The Bears' next game is against the top team USC.

Matilda Kearns will cap up with USC Trojans this weekend against Cal women's water polo team, the same team which fellow Aussie Junior teammate Carla Traplin is in. USC are coming off a tight 8-9 loss and will be hungry to turn it around this weekend.

HUNGARIAN WOMEN’S NATIONAL LEAGUE (FEMALE OB I)

For the second consecutive season FTC-Telekom's women's water polo team have entered the championship semi-finals with a seven goal win over Egerin a match which saw Aussie Lena Mihailovic net a double.
