KAP7 Aussie Sharks stage sensational comeback to defeat USA in opening test match

The KAP7 Aussie Sharks staged a sensational come from behind victory against the USA to take out the first test match 13-12 in front of a packed house.

As anticipated it was a close physical encounter between the two teams, who have spent the past few days training together in Brisbane.

The USA dominated the first half, setting up a handy 7-5 lead at half time. But the Aussies came out strong in the third period, scoring four goals to USA’s one.

The score was locked 12 a piece with just under a minute to go. In the dying seconds of the match if was Captain Aaron Younger who performed under pressure to deliver the final blow to the USA to take out the first of the three test Series in Brisbane.

"I was happy the boys were able to deliver the win in the end in front of a great home crowd with all these juniors around.

"The crowd really got behind us which was fantastic. Every time we play them (USA) it's a tough match so we didn't expect anything less," said Younger.

Centre Forward Joe Kayes was instrumental in the win for the Aussie Sharks, the leading goal scorer for the side with an impressive four goals.

Kayes said that the team were very happy to get an early advantage by winning the first of three matches.

“It’s always great to win against them - they’re very similar to our team, they play fast and strong so it’s nice to win,” Kayes said.

“We love playing a team that’s quite similar to us in many aspects so it was a good test for us,” he said.

The KAP7 Aussie Sharks, in combination with the Aussie Stingers, scored a total of 22 goals in match one, with a total of $2200 to be donated to the State Volunteer Fire Services.
