WATER POLO AUSTRALIA ANNOUNCES NATIONAL AGE GROUP PROGRAM TEAMS FOR WOMEN’S 16&U AND 17&U OVERSEAS TOURS

Water Polo Australia (WPA) is pleased to announce three women’s National Age Group Program (NAGP) teams ahead of their overseas tours next month.

With no World Championships set for 2023 in the 16&U and 18&U age groups, WPA is pleased to offer a development opportunity to its NAGP athletes.

One 16&U and one 17&U team will depart for Europe in June and July for two week tours, with a second 17&U team to visit the USA.

16&U Women’s Head Coach Georgina Kovacs-Muller said the tours will provide a great learning and development opportunity for the athletes.

“These tours are a fantastic opportunity for athletes to gain experience not only from a sport specific perspective, but also to develop good habits around preparation, behaviours on tour and everything that comes with being outside of their usual everyday environments for an extended period,” Kovacs-Muller said.

“It will be a great opportunity for them to challenge and learn about themselves, form friendships and take lifelong memories away.

“Exposure to another country’s culture will also broaden their knowledge, expands their water polo network and gives them an appreciation for what we have in our backyard in Australia.

“I’d like to thank all the coaches at various levels who invest their time and effort to develop these athletes…from clubs, states and talent development programs.

“I am looking forward to working with these groups to ensure they are learning, and having an overall positive experience,” she said.
