WATER POLO AUSTRALIA ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH AUSTRALIAN MARINE CONSERVATION SOCIETY

Water Polo Australia and the Australian Marine Conservation Society are pleased to announce a new partnership that will see both organisations driving change towards a more sustainable future.
Sustainability is a key focus area of Water Polo Australia’s Climate Action Strategy, with the sustainability of Australia’s waters crucial to not just the longevity of the sport but to the Australian way of life.
As Australia’s leading national charity dedicated solely to protecting our oceans and marine wildlife, the Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS) is a true industry expert.
A collaboration between the two organisations will see sustainability the focus, and the protection of our marine wildlife, including our Sharks and Stingers, championed.
Commenting on the partnership, WPA CEO Tim Welsford said: “Water Polo Australia is absolutely thrilled to be working with the Australian Marine Conservation Society.
“WPA recognises that our sport is not exempt from the impacts of climate change and that our sport’s impact on the climate is not insignificant.
“We have a responsibility to ensure our sport operates within and protects the environment we play in, and we are excited to begin a collaborative partnership that promotes the long-term wellbeing of our waterways and the marine wildlife that inhabit them,” he said.
AMCS CEO Darren Kindleysides is also excited to see the partnership develop, commenting: “The partnership between Water Polo Australia and the Australian Marine Conservation Society signifies a shared commitment to the preservation of our oceans and precious marine life.
“We are excited about working together to raise awareness, promote sustainable practices and empower communities to become stewards of our marine environments, while simultaneously cheering on Australia’s wonderful water polo representatives.
