The Ord Minnett Aussie Sharks have wrapped up their time in Brisbane with a convincing win over Japan.

After a disappointing loss on Wednesday night, the Ord Minnett Aussie Sharks were eager to bounce back and perform in front of a home crowd.

It was a dominant performance from the Ord Minnett Aussie Sharks, who led the game from start to finish.

In the end, the home side pushed out to a five goal lead to claim the win in front of a passionate home crowd.

Ord Minnett Aussie Sharks goal keeper Nic Porter made some exceptional saves to keep his side in the game.

“We were a bit disappointed from our result on Wednesday, it wasn’t our best performance,” Porter said.

“We went away, we looked at the game, worked on some things and I’m really proud of the boys that we bounced back tonight, showed a bit of resilience and confidence,” he said.

With a home crowd right behind him, Porter said it was the exact motivation he and his team needed to get across the line.

“It’s very special for us as a group to play in front of this many home fans, it’s been so great to see all the kids out here supporting us and for me personally being a Queensland boy, it’s been nice to have my family and a bunch of friends in the stands,” Porter said.

“They don’t get to see me play live very often so it’s a very special moment to get to represent Australia in front of them,” he said.

The Ord Minnett Aussie Sharks have extended their time in Queensland, and will head just up the highway to the Sunshine Coast for a week-long training camp. Having grown up on the Sunshine Coast, Porter said he’s excited to take his team mates to the place he calls home.

“I can’t wait to show them around, I’m very biased but I think it’s one of the most beautiful parts of the world and an ideal training location for us,” Porter said.

“Brisbane and then up to the Sunshine Coast, it’s some pretty great places to prepare for the World Championships in February,” he said.

It was a thrilling finish to the second game of the night, with the Ord Minnett Aussie Stingers Green v Gold game going down to the wire in a penalty shoot out.

With World Championships selection on the line, the Ord Minnett Aussie Stingers were keen to leave it all in the pool, as they went head-to-head with squad mates.

In the end, it was the Green team that claimed another win to take out the Series 3-0.

Ord Minnett Aussie Stingers goal keeper Gabi Palm said she’s enjoyed the challenge of playing against her team mates this week.

“I think this week has been really exciting - it shows the depth we have in our squad to be going to penalties against each other,” Palm said.

“It’s really exciting that we were able to practice with a proper game in front of a home crowd and it’s going to be a nervous next few days waiting for [World Championships] selection but it’s really exciting to see where we’re at as a squad.

“Noone knows each other better than we know ourselves, so that’s been an interesting challenge to try and overcome. But it’s also been great that we can leave it in the pool, and come together and celebrate each other’s successes, win or lose,” she said.
