Dates confirmed for 2019 Australian Youth Water Polo Championships

Water Polo Australia is pleased to officially confirm event dates for the 2019 Australian Youth Water Polo Championships.

The Championships which are set to streamline six events into one major event, giving scale to the event and raising the profile of water polo to a national audience and beyond, will be held in Brisbane from January 12-24, 2019.

Water Polo Australia CEO, Christian Renford spoke about the consolidated event as a game changer for water polo in Australia.

“It changes the nature and structure of our competitive pathways for current and future members of the sport by focusing all of our athletes in one of the world’s larger youth sporting events.

“It is a unique opportunity to integrate all aspects of our sport from participation right through to high-performance,” Renford said.

The 14&U and 18&U Aged Australian Championships will be conducted across a six-day format from January 12-17.

This format will then be replicated for the 16&U Aged Australian Championships from January 19-24, while the 12&U Aged Australian Championships will run over five days from January 19-23.
